Why choose Professional Moving Company? Experienced movers across the Netherlands
Hiring a moving company comes down to trust — you are handing strangers everything you own. We think that choice should rest on facts rather than nice words. So here’s what we do, how we work, what we’ve been officially assessed on, and what our customers mention most.
What customers mention most
Across more than 480 Google reviews the same points keep coming back. That’s no accident — they’re exactly what a move stands or falls on.
On time, then straight to work
The crew arrives when agreed and keeps going. Customers often write that the move took less time than they’d expected.
Everything gets wrapped
What stands out in the reviews is how consistently things are wrapped and padded. Furniture, paintings and fragile pieces go into film and blankets before anything moves — and arrive undamaged.
Fast and careful at once
Those two rarely go together, and it’s precisely that combination people mention. Efficient work without anything being thrown around.
English and Dutch
Our crews switch between both without effort. For expats and international customers that removes a lot of moving-day confusion.
Value for money
It comes up again and again. Sharp rates, but not a cheap job — that’s exactly what we aim for.
Solving things on the day
If a staircase turns out to be unworkable, you get a solution rather than a problem. Customers regularly note that the crew arranged a moving lift on the spot.
Something you don’t often see with a moving company: our foremen are thanked by name in reviews remarkably often. That tells you more about how a moving day actually goes than any slogan could.
NIWO licensed: an officially vetted carrier
We hold a Euro licence (Eurovergunning) from NIWO, the Dutch national and international road transport authority. It is the licence you need to carry goods commercially by road in the Netherlands — and it’s only granted once you pass four tests.
Professional competence
Demonstrated through the official road transport operator qualification, examined by the CBR. Not a paper formality but a series of exams.
Good repute
Verified with a Certificate of Conduct (VOG), using a screening profile specific to goods transport.
Financial standing
The business must demonstrate sufficient risk-bearing capital, confirmed by an accountant or recognised expert.
A real Dutch establishment
An actual company with an actual address and its own vehicles — no mailbox arrangement.
Why this matters to you. A lot of moving work in the Netherlands is done by operators without this licence, even though it’s mandatory for virtually any vehicle over 500 kg payload. We’ve been through the assessment, and it’s re-checked periodically.
The Euro licence is also valid throughout the EU and EEA, which is why we carry out international moves within Europe ourselves.
Experience across the Netherlands — and beyond
We move house every day, right across the country. From a studio in central Amsterdam to a detached house in Brabant, and from an office relocation to an entire art collection.
Throughout the Netherlands
From Groningen to Maastricht, with most work in the Randstad and North Brabant — where we know the streets, the staircases and each municipality’s permit rules.
International within Europe
With the Euro licence in hand we handle moves to and from France, Belgium, Germany and further afield.
Every type of property
Upper-floor flats without a lift, canal houses with spiral staircases, new-builds where the service lift is too small. We work out the approach in advance.
The specialist work too
Pianos and grand pianos, artworks and antiques, safes, and heavy marble or solid timber tabletops.
Professional movers, not casual labour
A move isn’t made by the van. It’s made by the people loading it.
Our movers are trained and experienced: they know how to get a wardrobe round a tight turn without touching the wall, how to carry a piano down a staircase without it becoming dangerous, and how to load a van so nothing shifts en route. That’s a craft you don’t learn in a day.
- Regular teams with a foreman as your point of contact
- Trained in lifting and load-securing technique
- English and Dutch speaking
- Used to Amsterdam staircases, spiral stairs and narrow entrances
- Experienced with fragile, heavy and valuable items
- Tidy: floors and door frames are covered before anything goes out
Equipment and vans
Good equipment is the difference between a move without damage and an expensive surprise. We turn up with what the job needs, not with whatever happened to be on the van.
Vans in several sizes
From a compact van for a room or studio move to large trucks for a full household. The right size saves trips, and therefore hours.
Protection for everything
Moving blankets, stretch film, bubble wrap, packing paper, corner protection and mattress covers — carried as standard.
Lifting equipment
Sack trucks, furniture rollers, lifting straps, piano trolleys and grand piano boards for the heavy work.
Our own moving lift with operator
For narrow staircases and high floors. See moving lift.
Assembly tools
Cordless tools, hex key sets and glass suction cups, so assembly and disassembly happen on the same day.
Boxes and crates
Moving boxes in several sizes and reusable crates, plus supplies delivered to your door.
Hourly rate or fixed price — you choose
We work with both, because not every move calls for the same thing. You’re not locked into one model just because it suits us.
By the hour
- You pay for the time the job actually takes
- Flexible when the scope isn’t fixed yet
- Well suited to smaller jobs and one-off tasks
- If it goes faster than expected, you pay less
- You can adjust what we do and don’t do as the day goes
Fixed price upfront
- One figure, agreed in advance in your quote
- Complete certainty about your moving budget
- Well suited to full households and larger moves
- If it overruns, that’s our risk
- Based on a survey or a properly completed request
We’ll tell you honestly which works out better in your situation. Either way:
- No hidden fees
- No weekend surcharge
- Boxes charged according to use
- If anything changes, you hear it before moving day — not after
- Free pre-move survey if you’re unsure about volume
- All amounts include VAT

What you can expect from us
- A quick reply. Your quote request gets a response the same day. We’re reachable at weekends too.
- Honest advice upfront. If a moving lift works out cheaper than extra crew, we’ll say so. If holding a parking space yourself is enough, we’ll say that too.
- Everything arranged before the day. Crew size, van, equipment and where needed the parking permit.
- A moving day without surprises. The crew knows what it’s walking into, because we asked beforehand.
- Handover together. We walk through the property with you at the end and take the packing materials away.
Everything under one roof
You don’t need separate parties for packing, assembly, a lift or temporary storage. That saves coordination — and it saves the argument about who’s responsible if something goes wrong.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge by the hour or a fixed price?
Both — and you choose. By the hour you pay for the time the job actually takes, which is flexible for smaller or not-yet-defined jobs. A fixed price gives complete certainty upfront and suits full households. We’ll advise which works out better for your situation when we quote.
Are you a licensed moving company?
Yes. We hold a Euro licence from NIWO, the licence required for commercial road transport in the Netherlands. To obtain it we were assessed on professional competence, good repute, financial standing and having a genuine Dutch establishment.
What is a NIWO licence?
NIWO issues the Euro licence to companies transporting goods by road for payment. It’s only granted if you meet all statutory requirements, it’s reviewed periodically, and it’s valid throughout the EU and EEA.
How much experience do you have?
We move house daily across the Netherlands and beyond, with more than 480 Google reviews at an average of 4.9. Our crews do this full time — not casual labour hired per job.
Do your movers speak English?
Yes. Our crews work in both English and Dutch, which is one reason many expats and international customers come to us.
Do you move abroad?
Yes. Our Euro licence is valid across the EU and EEA, so we carry out European moves ourselves — including to France, Belgium and Germany.
Are there hidden fees?
No. Whether you go hourly or fixed price: no weekend surcharge, boxes charged according to use, and any changes reach you before moving day.
Are you available at weekends?
Yes, we’re reachable seven days a week and work weekends at no surcharge.
Wondering what your move will cost?
Two minutes to fill in and you’ll have a tailored price the same day — hourly or fixed, VAT included and with no hidden fees.
