Moving valuable and fragile items
Every home has a handful of things you’d rather not think about if the box gets dropped. Your mother’s dinner service, the mirror above the fireplace, the television, the display cabinet full of glassware. We pack those pieces separately with professional protective materials, mark them as fragile, and load them so nothing can come up against them en route.
Breakage happens during packing, not on the road
Almost all damage to fragile items comes from too little padding, boxes that are too big and empty space inside the box — not from the journey itself. A box that can’t shift and can’t rattle arrives intact.
That’s the core of how we work. Glasses are wrapped individually and stood upright, not stacked flat. Boxes are filled until nothing moves. Heavy things go in small boxes, light things in large ones — the other way round and the bottom tears. And every box with fragile contents gets a clear fragile marking, so everyone who touches it knows what’s inside and where it belongs in the van.
What we work with
Moving blankets
The basis for anything large and vulnerable: mirrors, table tops, cabinets and screens. They absorb knocks and prevent scuffing against other items.
Bubble wrap
For fragile shapes that flat protection won’t suit — vases, figurines, lamps and anything with protruding parts.
Packing paper
Glasses, plates and cups are wrapped individually, with paper between the layers as padding.
Stretch film
Holds blankets in place, protects against moisture and dirt, and keeps loose components together.
Sturdy moving boxes
In several sizes, because the right box size is half the work. Small boxes for heavy and fragile, large ones for light bulk.
Fragile labels
Every box with vulnerable contents is marked and loaded separately — on top, never underneath, and never loose in the van.

How we handle it
- We ask what’s fragile. When quoting we go through which items need extra care — even if there are only a few. That way time and materials get planned for it.
- Wrapping on site. We bring boxes, paper, film and blankets and wrap at your home, so there’s no gap between wrapping and loading.
- Labelling and marking. Room, contents and a fragile marking on every box, so nothing gets put down or stacked wrongly.
- Loading with judgement. Fragile boxes on top and wedged in, large pieces upright and secured against the wall. Nothing can shift or tip.
- Unpacking and checking. In your new home we put everything in the right room and go through it with you to confirm it arrived intact.
Safe transport
Careful wrapping counts for little if things go wrong in the van. Our movers load in a fixed order: heavy, stable items at the bottom and against the wall, fragile boxes on top, and everything strapped down so nothing can move while driving. Empty space in the load area is filled with blankets.
Your household goods are insured during the move up to €200,000 per claim. If there’s something of substantial value, discuss it in advance and we’ll record it beforehand. Full terms are at our terms.
What does it cost?
There’s no separate rate for fragile items. The cost follows from the time the packing takes and the materials needed. A display cabinet full of glassware takes more packing time than a cupboard of bed linen — that’s the whole difference.

Frequently asked questions
How do you pack glasses and plates safely?
Wrap each item individually in packing paper, stand glasses and plates upright rather than stacked flat, and fill the box completely so nothing can move. Empty space in the box causes more breakage than the transport does.
Do you bring the packing materials?
Yes. Boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, stretch film, moving blankets and labels all come with us. You don’t need to buy anything in advance.
Are fragile boxes handled separately?
Yes. Every box with vulnerable contents gets a fragile marking and is loaded on top, wedged in, and never under heavy boxes.
Can I have only the fragile items packed?
Certainly. Many customers pack clothes and books themselves and have us do the glassware, the mirrors and the electronics.
How do you transport a large mirror or glass table top?
In moving blankets with corner protection, carried upright and secured against the van wall — never flat, because it can flex or crack over a bump.
Are my fragile items insured?
Your household goods are insured during the move up to €200,000 per claim. For items of substantial value it’s worth discussing this in advance so we can record it beforehand.
What do you do with televisions and computers?
They’re wrapped protectively and carried upright. Where the original box is still available we use it — that remains the best protection for a screen.
